Competition details

Patrons will vote on the Best Tasting

Remember appearance matters. Try to decorate keeping the theme in mind or get creative.  Make your table represent your food.

Once the voting is complete, we will tabulate the votes and announce the winner and present the trophy.

Please be sure to have gloves, and whatever is needed for your samples.  Please be prepared to provide at least 100 good samples, a small portion size of an item you’re your menu or best item with all necessary utensils and paper goods required.  You want your sample to represent you, first impressions matter.  This is a potential customer.

A few things to Note

For participating in the Taste of Soul we offer you the opportunity to be a Kuumba Vendor.  You may sell your delicacies, meals, drinks throughout the weekend for a small fee. Saturday snacks/lunch/dinner and Sunday lunch/dinner. If you are participating in the Taste of Soul competition only, you may sell for free on this day only.

You must bring your food prepared. If you are looking to prepare your food on-site with grills or flames, you must have a fire extinguisher present.   Have warmers to keep your food warm, crockpots, waffle makers, steamers, coolers…  If you would like to vend all weekend the cost is only $75 instead of the $200 to support the recoup of cost in providing your samples for the Taste of Soul Competition.  This discount is only offered to those participating in Taste of Soul.  All other food vendors must pay full vendor fee.

If you have lots to unload, be sure to bring helpers

It’s a great idea to Network and promote yourself during the festival. Have flyers, business cards...perhaps offer coupons or discounts for coming to your store/restaurant... if they mention Kuumba Fest.  We want this to be a great time of marketing and advertising your business to our community.

Set Up Times for the festival vending:

  • Saturday from 8a-10a

  • Sunday from 8a-11a

If anything changes with the times set, I will notify you by email.
