Vendor Set Up ANd Arrival Q & A

  1. Q: Where is the event located

    A: Locations of each event will be announced per event

  2. Q: Where do the vendors vend?

    A: Vendors will be spread throughout the event space

  3. Q: What type of vendors are allowed?

    A: Food vendors, retail vendors, Information vendors, art vendors, community organization vendors, community resource vendors, corporate sponsor vendors.

  4. Q: What type of vendors will not be allowed?

    A: No vendors expressing illegal acts, merchandise, or paraphernalia, no CBD, THC, drug or alcohol related products, or merchandise. 

  5. Q: Is the Kuumba Fest a family friendly event?

    A: Kuumba Fest is an all ages, family friendly event.  We will have activities for every stage of life.

  6. Q: What is provided with my registration

    A: You will have a 10x10 space reserved for you; Food businesses registration comes with the use of a generator if needed. 

  7. Q: What do I need to bring to be a vendor

    A: All your own materials to be self-contained.  Tables, Pop Up Canopy, chairs, methods of accepting payment, marketing material, change, and helpers (Food Vendors see food vendor information)

  8. Q: What time can I arrive to set up?

    A: Set Up time is 8am-10am (Please allow yourself time to be ready)

  9. Q: Where do I unload?

    A: Unloading depends on where you park. Parking will be available in the Synergy lot, street parking on both the East and West sides of the park, and a small lot inside the park.  Parking is first come first served.  Parking is free.  The parking directly in front or North of the park is reserved for Food Trucks.

  10. Q: Do I need to be present for the entire fest. 

    A: It is recommended that you are present from the start until the completion of each day to maximize your earnings, as well as provide a full array to customers and maintain the aesthetics of the festival.

  11. Q: Do I have to breakdown at the end of the day?

    A: Yes, we are outside at the park, so you will need to set up and break down on both Saturday and Sunday

  12. Q: How many people do you expect during the event?

    A: We are expecting thousands of people.  The festival is outside, highly marketed, it is the inaugural in the new Arts Culture District, there is a Parade this year, the weather will be great this time of the year.  We have a huge FREE concert happening each day along with a host of other events and fun activities that will draw great crows.

  13. Q: Do you have WIFI available

    A: We are outside at the park so you will need to provide your own access with he use of cellular data or hot spots.

  14. Q: Will there be food to purchase?

    A: Yes, a variety of food vendors will be present and available

  1. Q) How do I get on a mailing list for future vending opportunities throughout the year?

    A) When you register as a vendor with the Kuumba Fest, you are automatically entered into our database.  We will contact you for all future events throughout the year. Please be sure to stop by the African American Advisory Council booth to find out how to get more involved.  

  2. Q) How can I promote the Kuumba Fest?

    A) Thank you for asking, there are a number of ways for you to support the Kuumba Fest.  You can tell all of your friends and family about the weekend. Visit our Facebook page and post to your wall.  Place a link on your business website to our sudw.org site.  Post our page on your Facebook page.  Give out flyers to local business. Begin frequenting our list of vendors to promote giving back to our community.  

  3. Q) How many people do you expect at the 3 day event

    A) The Kuumba Fest is a large event with thousands in attendance over the course of the 3 day weekend.

  4. Q) How can I assure my success as a vendor

    A) Advertise the festival on your website and social media.  Sell tickets to the various performances and shows, Tell all of your customers about the event and offer discounts if they come to the festival and shop with you.  Make flyers and bring lots of business cards for networking and to handout in the Horton Plaza mall and downtown area during the festival. 

  5. Q)  Do you have WIFI available during the event for transactions?

    A) Yes, we will have WIFI and we suggest that you bring lots of change, a way to process credit cards, debit cards… to ensure maximum sales potential.  

  6. Q) Will there be food to purchase?

    A) Yes, we have a variety of wonderful food vendors representing the community that will provide concessions throughout the festival.  Please bring cash.
